I started my Advanced Apprenticeship to become an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer with Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group in 2013. After 8 months in the training workshop learning the hand skills required to maintain aircraft and carry out the major modification and rectification work that Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group specialise in, I moved into the hangars and began working with live aircraft to gain the experience I needed to complete my apprenticeship under the guidance of some of the best engineers in the industry. I completed my apprenticeship in 2017 and entered the WorldSkills competitions that same year.
Following another 2 years of training with WorldSkills UK, and with the help of Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group, I was selected as the engineer to represent the UK at the WorldSkills International Finals in Kazan, Russia in 2019 in the Aircraft Maintenance skill where I won the Gold medal, making me the best Aircraft Maintenance Engineer under 25 in the World. Marshall Apprenticeships are, therefore, quite literally the best in the world and I couldn’t have made this huge achievement without the training and support that I received from Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group.
To anyone considering an apprenticeship in the aerospace industry, I would highly recommend Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group as their apprenticeships are now proven to be second-to-none.
