Growth

66 English Drive, Moncton

In 2023, Marshall Canada opened the doors to its 82,000 square foot production facility at 66 English Drive in Moncton, New Brunswick, enabling us to grow our existing capabilities to meet customer needs on a global basis.

The new facility will produce a range of made-in-Canada specialist containers, both for the North American market and for export under Marshall’s key European contracts.

Logistics Vehicle Modernisation project

In January 2024, Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) officially announced General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada (GDLS-Canada) and Marshall Canada, representing the Power Team, as the preferred bidder for its Logistics Vehicle Modernization (LVM) project.

The Power Team, made up of GDLS-Canada, Marshall Canada, Mercedes Benz, Soframe and Manac, will provide the replacement for the Canadian Armed Forces’ (CAF) existing fleet of logistics vehicles, which can be used to transfer resources, personnel and military assets during domestic and international operations and training exercises.

With GDLS-Canada serving as prime integrator, Marshall will produce a range of interchangeable containerised mission modules capable of being mounted onto Mercedes-Benz Zetros trucks, which will provide the common vehicle chassis across all configurations.

Supporting the New Brunswick economy

No matter where we are in the world, we work hard to bring prosperity to our local communities – as we have continually demonstrated in our second home market of Canada.

We are proud to have been ranked #30 in Canadian Defence Review’s (CDR) 2023 Top 100 Defence Companies in Canada, while also receiving recognition from Opportunities New Brunswick for our contribution to the local community and economy.

Our new Moncton facility is expected to boost New Brunswick’s fabricated metal manufacturing sector GDP by as much as 15 per cent by 2026, as well as driving export revenues to help address the province’s trade deficit in the sector.

We also expect the Moncton facility to create 90 new direct employment opportunities in the local area by the end of 2024, which could increase to 140 by the end of 2025 as the ramp-up to full operating capacity continues. More broadly, delivering the LVM contract is expected to enable the creation of over 500 new direct employment opportunities in eastern Canada by 2028.

Earn as you learn

In 2023 we announced Earn as you Learn – a series of programmes adapting Marshall’s industry-leading training model to Canada with the aim of helping to address the looming skills gap in manufacturing and engineering in the province of New Brunswick.

The new programmes are being run as a five-year pilot project in close partnership between Marshall, New Brunswick Community College and University of New Brunswick Saint John, and are backed by almost CAD $7 million in support from the Government of New Brunswick.

The programmes are targeted to high school students, underrepresented groups in the industry and those trying to change careers. Participants are employed by an industry partner from the beginning and will take part in an initial block of learning at the start of each academic year, followed by a schedule of four days per week at work and one day in class at either of the supporting higher education institutions.

Under these new Earn as you Learn programmes, participants will have the opportunity to gain fully funded qualifications, relevant work experience and be paid a salary whilst receiving full support throughout their journey. Participating organisations will grow their own talent pool with support from highly regarded education providers who will develop their learners, delivering competent and qualified team members.
