Engineering, support and training
Supportability engineering is at the heart of Marshall’s capabilities – we specialise in bringing together requirements capture, design, supply chain management, manufacturing and integrated logistics support.
We offer a full spectrum of upkeep, update and upgrade services for both proprietary and third-party defence equipment, helping armed forces maximise availability and ensuring predictable through-life capability.
From ad-hoc support, spares and preventative or corrective maintenance to training, post design services, re-rolling of old systems or full availability contracting, we scale our services to meet customer need and budget while minimising operational responsibility and any unnecessary costs.
Our knowledge, skills and experience enable us to solve seemingly impossible engineering problems and we are trusted by governments and industry alike to deliver on time, to cost and to specification.
Engineering and logistics consultancy
Our end-to-end engineering support service addresses the needs of high-value products and systems, starting with conceptual design and extending all the way to end of life.
We shape the design and integration of systems and equipment right from the outset of the project, improving supportability and making sure the required resources are identified to minimise costs.
Recently, we have partnered with UK industry colleagues to form Team Protect, a consortium that will deliver life-saving explosive protection system for Armed Forces in a programme called CRENIC.
We’ll be certifying and integrating cutting-edge technology and ensuring our customer adopts a rapid and agile method of procurement. With our engineering and logistics consultancy expertise, CRENIC will deliver a world-leading capability to protect forces deployed on global operations.

Project CRENIC
Team Protect, comprising Marshall, PA Consulting, Leonardo and Leidos, is working with the UK Ministry of Defence to deliver Project CRENIC—a £45m Force Protection Electronic Countermeasure (FPECM) programme.
Announced in late 2022 and operationalised in 2023, Project CRENIC will provide a new generation of solutions for personnel, vehicles and military bases to counter threats from radio controlled Im provised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
In addition to its well-developed relationships with vehicle OEMs, Marshall is bringing to the partnership its deep expertise in installing, designing and fitting complex electronic equipment into military vehicles and platforms, including FPECM equipment for UK land vehicles.
Team Protect is the systems integrator for this multi-year programme, collaborating with an ecosystem of UK SME organisations to select best-in-class technologies and deliver pioneering solutions.
All new technologies and capabilities developed under Project CRENIC will follow the Defence Cyber and Electromagnetic Activities Architecture, meaning they are built with open standards that allow the solutions to be used in future projects.
First deliveries under Project CRENIC are due to take place in 2026, with a view to incrementally deploying equipment and evolving its protective capability to meet the needs of the Army, Royal Marines and RAF land forces long into the future.
Field support and service engineering
One constant challenge for customers is reducing the cost of ownership and support across equipment that has been procured separately from different OEMs.
Marshall serves as a single source of field support, servicing, maintenance and upgrades on any project around the globe – including in combat zones – driving massive efficiencies in manpower, time and cost.
Our dedicated support managers draw on their extensive knowledge and experience to anticipate developments in key markets, accreditations, regulations and technologies, ensuring that we provide the best possible planning around each customer’s goals.

Technical information
We produce product manuals that are tailored to meet customer needs, from traditional text booklets to fully interactive electronic manuals. We ensure that these assets conform to required military or commercial standards, and can translate them into multiple languages.
Training support
Marshall’s training team provides guidance, support and upskilling for customers around the globe, typically in accordance with the UK government’s JSP822 policy (Defence Standard Approach to Training).
We work with customers to establish and analyse their training requirements, ensuring that our programmes are fully tailored to meet their specific needs.
Training delivery includes lesson plans, development of compulsory basic training, development of peer-teacher-training scenarios and scripts (if required), full course delivery (inclusive of pilot courses) and internal validation. All Instructors will be UK SQEP and NVQ Level 3 minimum.
