Many people have a number of careers during their working lives, but not so Marshall AeroAcademy Instructor, Keirron Mascall, who’s about to retire after 50-years loyal service.
Keirron joined Marshall in 1969 as an apprentice aircraft engineer, straight from school, then five years later became an instructor himself.
In that time he has trained more than 1,400 apprentices, including 22-year old Haydn Jakes, who is representing UK in the Aircraft Maintenance category of the global WorldSkills competition in Russia this weekend, and many others who are still in the business and credit him with their career advancement.
Another of Keirron’s trainees was Mark Johnston, who joined the apprentice scheme in 1984 and has gone on to become Group Chief Engineer at Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group.
Mark said:
“No one who has trained under Keirron could ever forget him and we all have him to thank for our careers,
“You only have to walk through the site to see how many people stop him to say hello. He made us all feel at home, while ensuring we did the work to the most exacting standards. There have been a lot of changes in the business, but Keirron has remained the same – friendly, supportive, encouraging, focused, and always positive. He will be truly missed.”
Hundreds of Marshall’s employees posted messages of thanks and good wishes on the company’s intranet since hearing of his departure and many attended a farewell reception held at Greenhouse Farm today (Friday).
Keirron said:
“I have mixed emotions,
“Marshall has been my life for so many years and I will definitely miss it all, but I am also looking forward to this new chapter in my life, to travelling more and tackling all the jobs my wife has in store for me!”
