Marshall success at Black Sea Defence and Aerospace

Marshall had a successful week at the Black Sea Defence, Aerospace and Security (BSDA) Exhibition, which took place in Bucharest between the 22nd and 24th May and provided an opportunity to highlight our wide range of capabilities within aerospace and defence, build key strategic relationships and promote ourselves within the region.

BSDA, the international tri service Defence, Aerospace and Security exhibition, takes place every two years and brings together exhibitors, VIP visitors and official military delegations from around the world.

Marshall was located in Hall B alongside other key exhibitors such as MBDA, Thales, Lockheed Martin, RTX, Leonardo, General Dynamics, Airbus and Kongsberg.

In the opening addresses to the event, both the Romanian Prime Minister and Minister of Defence referenced the importance of increasing the availability of the Romanian Air Force C-130 fleet. This set the tone of one of our key meetings with local aircraft maintenance company, Romaero and the Romanian Air Force.

During the show, Marshall made two large announcements. Firstly, a new landmark contract that will see us supply up to 500 Command and Control Containers for the Swedish Armed Forces over the next seven years. The Framework Agreement contract, worth over £100m with the potential for further follow-on work for Marshall Support Services, will see Marshall manufacture up to 12 container variants for customer FMV, the Swedish MoD’s purchasing department.

Secondly, Marshall signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Romanian manufacturer, Bluespace Technology that will see them explore opportunities to partner on the design, development and integration of electromagnetic shielding and TEMPEST capabilities within containerised solutions. The agreement was signed on-site at BSDA at the Bluespace stand, with attendance from the British Embassy in Bucharest, local and trade media.

“BSDA is the largest defence & aerospace exhibition held in the Black Sea region and was a fantastic platform to showcase our range of capabilities to customers from across industry and Government.

Thanks to those at the British Embassy in Bucharest who have supported our efforts in Romania, we look forward to continuing to build relationships and growing opportunities.”
