Marshall Skills Academy Learning Facilitator Robin Lipscombe was presented with his much-deserved Cambridgeshire Apprenticeship Award by Cambridgeshire County Council Chief Executive, Stephen Moir recently, at a special event attended by his colleagues, friends and family.
Robin, who has been the linchpin of Marshall’s world renowned Aerospace and Defence Apprenticeship Programmes over the past 40 years, won the Apprentice Manager/Mentor Award in recognition of support he has given to over a thousand young people to help them launch successful careers in the industry.
Marshall Skills Academy General Manager Dan Edwards explains:
“We are all delighted that Robin’s work has been recognised with this very well-deserved award. Robin is an absolute legend in our industry and his commitment to supporting our apprentices throughout his career is truly extraordinary.
“The best testament to Robin’s work is the number of his former apprentices who have gone on to become well respected, award-winning leaders in the global aerospace industry.”
Robin comments:
“Being a skilled, hands-on craftsperson in a variety of engineering crafts such as sheet metal work, assembly and welding, woodworking, pattern making and setting-out has enabled me to utilise this all-round ability to teach well over 12,000 people in a period spanning 40 years - I guess this is probably the one achievement I take the most pride in!”
Cambridgeshire County Council Chief Executive, Stephen Moir said that it was a great pleasure to recognise Robin in the inaugural Cambridgeshire Apprenticeship Awards. Celebrating someone who has dedicated a lifetime of service to developing apprentices not only for an extraordinary company like Marshall with a global reach but also for the region is a huge honour and everyone at the Council is proud of his achievement.
Marshall has been running its Apprenticeship Programme for over 100 years during which time it has trained over 20,000 people.
