Marshall Canada has announced plans to extend its footprint by opening a dedicated Land Systems production facility in the province of New Brunswick to support its home and international markets.
The company, which celebrated 15 years in Canada in May, is looking to build on the reputation it has gained through its involvement in the delivery of a number of key Canadian programs across both the Land and Air sectors.
Marshall employs around 75 people across its two locations in Ottawa and Abbotsford and will look to more than double that number when it opens the New Brunswick facility next year.
Marshall Canada Managing Director Sam Michaud explains:
“This really is great news for Marshall Canada and will afford us a fantastic platform for growth in the Land domain through opportunities on Canadian Military programs, recognising the value it places on domestic content and investment in domestic defense capability.
“Equally we hope to generate sales to overseas customers and, importantly, through partnerships with other Canadian businesses, who offer complementary capability or expertise, to develop Intellectual Property that creates a domestic source of supply and export.
“We’ve chosen to locate the new facility in New Brunswick for a number of important reasons, its geography, its proximity to the end use customer and, of course, the need to bring opportunity to the region through the development of skilled jobs for local people both working directly for Marshall and through our broader supply chain.
“Growing and developing our people has always been a cornerstone of Marshall’s success, our UK parent company has recently celebrated 100 years of engineering apprenticeships during which time it has trained over 20,000 young people and that is an ethos we are keen to replicate here in Canada.
“In the more immediate term, our focus is to identify the exact location and facility that will best suit our current and future needs and we are confident of securing a facility and enabling us to hit our target of being operational by the end of next year.”
Marshall Canada is part of Marshall Aerospace and Defence which is one the UK’s largest privately owned defense businesses, the company has built a global reputation for engineering excellence over the past 100+ years, employing more than 1800 people across its operations in the UK, Northern Europe, North America and United Arab Emirates.
