Aircraft Paint Services

Marshall offers a world-class in-house paint strip and repaint capability in Cambridge, UK, and will soon have a dedicated paint barn at our new facility in Greensboro, USA. We understand that there is more to aircraft paint than the appearance of the aircraft – looking at what is under the surface is key to our maintenance inspections.

We prioritise a clean, safe and environmentally responsible paint operation. With industry-leading abatement equipment, our systems prevent harmful pollutants from escaping into the atmosphere, enabling us to manage the full strip and repaint process without compromising quality or safety.

Our facility

Our Cambridge aircraft paint facility opened in early 2015 and is one of the largest of its kind in Europe, capable of accommodating wide-bodied aircraft types including Boeing 747-400, 777 and Airbus 330 airliners. As well as supporting airliners, the facility plays an important role in Marshall’s depth maintenance of military C-130 Hercules aircraft.

Paint strip

Our paint strip capability allows us to remove all coatings and take aircraft back to bare metal. The chemical strip process ensures aircraft are prepared for thorough inspection; our technicians can then conduct in-depth examinations of the skin of the aircraft, making it significantly easier to identify underlying damage and corrosion.

We are able to carry out heavy sanding, corrosion removal and treatment and reseal of all production joints from our fully equipped paint shop.

Repaint

Once the aircraft has been through inspection and repairs are nearly complete, the repaint process begins in preparation for delivery to customer. Marshall offers a range of both standard and bespoke aircraft livery paint schemes delivered in-house with high-quality finish through our strategic partnership with our specialist provider - Satys.

On-site paint solutions

Marshall operates two of the only approved mobile extraction units worldwide. Designed by Marshall and supplied externally, these bespoke systems allow for painting of small parts or hard-to-reach areas within the hangar in a safe and controlled environment. This flexibility helps to reduce downtime during maintenance inputs, and ensures complex on-the-job paint tasks can be carried out in a safe and controlled environment.

Component and small part paint

Beyond full aircraft paint services, our Cambridge facility also features three bespoke booths dedicated to the strip and paint of components. These booths are designed for precision detailing on smaller parts where accuracy is required for aircraft livery.
